Evolution and new coatings
The development of the first water based varnishes for sheet-fed occurs from isolated experiences in Europe and United States in the end of 60ties, with technically non satisfactory results and applied in sheet fed press on dampenning systems of sheet-fed printers.
The effective technical viabilization was from sheet-fed printers manufacturer from Germany in the end of 70ties . In this period, were produced the first printer machines for varnish application in line, also known as on-line varnishing system.
These printers presented little adaptation in dampenning system in the last print printer unit and allowed the use of this unit for normal printing with sheet-fed printing inks or as varnisher, using water based varnishes in dampenning system.
As natural consequence of this evolution, a sofistication transformed this last unit using anilox cylinders, together with rubber cylinders for a better application and varnish uniformit . In these printers, the last unit went out to apply exclusively water based varnishes.
In the following phase, the producers created an element in the end of the printers, named on line aplicator castle, consolidating the tendence of use this varnish as finishers and ennoblement . Drying systems more sofisticated, used in printers with long exit, resistances and infra red lamps, air circulator heat and cold, ratifyed this varnishing process on line around the world.
